Painting for pure pleasure
Home and Away
The forthcoming exhibition at GNW has given me a renewed enthusiasm for observing the world around me, whether flowers or landscapes. I aim to capture particular moments in time that have stayed with me during the past year. These have been moments when I’ve been alone or with loved ones or times when I’ve been travelling abroad or even just enjoying a cuppa in my own backyard.
Photography and sketching helps me to develop my ideas and eventually to achieve a pleasing composition. The stunning beauty in nature, near or far, provides ample opportunity for artistic inspiration. Striving to capture a particular light, colour or mood is exciting and I’m regularly enthused to try different techniques, tools or paints to achieve the desired effect of representing these qualities.
Thank you for coming to see this exhibition and I hope you enjoy viewing my work, perhaps experiencing some of the emotions from these moments.
